Short Description: his blog starts with my favorite castle, Portchester Castle, built inside of a Roman Fort, which was built in the late 200s. The fort was built at sea level and the moat (and sewers) filled with the tide. It's an anecdotal statement about the stability of sea level. (It has had erosion problems. Wonder about the Medieval Warm Period?) The blog also talks about a paper that discusses the role of stable sea level and the formation of cities. Then poses a question for the future, with most of the population living in mega-cities on the shoreline.
