Short Description: This blog talks about requirements for models and model development. There are a number of sub-cultures in the modeling community- weather models, climate models, climate models that focus on the physical climate (atmosphere, ocean, land, and ice, climate models that focus on chemistry, land biology, ocean biology, carbon, etc. With the IPCC report there are new types of model requirements. Those requirements that come from communities other than climate scientists. These requirements needed to be answered in a scientific way, but they are not the requirements that climate scientists might pose to address the basic questions of climate prediction and understanding.
